Not as amusing as the tampon commercial... I've been using the same tampon since I was a teenager (they meant the same brand of tampon, but that's not what they said!... that commercial was quickly pulled off the air), or the original brain-on-drugs commercial (showing something yucky (raw egg) being turned into something yummy (sunnysideup)), but...
Perhaps you've seen the Mitsubishi commercial running here in the States, satisfied customers driving along mouthing the words to a bit of Faces' Ooh La La. Just a bit... I wish that I knew what I know now when I was younger. First a pretty young lady, then a distinguished-looking older gentleman, then another pretty young lady. I'm not sure what the point was meant to be (It took me a long time to realize that this was the car for me?), but I find it rather odd to see pretty young ladies singing this song. After all, the song was about an old man trying to warn his grandson about the wicked ways of women... but at the same time remembering how he had ignored his own grandfather's warnings...
Poor old Granddad, I laughed at all his words
Poor young grandson, there's nothing I can say
I wish that I knew what I know now |
But it was nice to hear this old Faces tune again.
14 Marto 2003, nearly two years later... Hehehe, they're running that commercial again, edited... exterior shots of the cars are newer, naturally, and the windows are darkened so that you can't see that the passengers aren't the ones in the closeups... and for some reason they removed the distinguished-looking older gentleman, so now it's just women singing about women's wicked ways...
