The Edge of Nowhere

Mi ĵus tre surpriziĝis trovant esperantlingvan frazon («Unu, du, tri, kvar, kvin.») en angllingva sciencfikcia rakonto The Edge of Nowhere (= La Rando de Nenie), far James Patrick Kelly, publikigita en la ĵusa n-ro junio 2005 de la konata usona monata rakontgazeto Asimov's Science Fiction.

Tiu frazo aperas en paĝo 27-a, ne kiel elparolo sed kiel vortumita pensado: «She took a deep breath and counted to five. Unu, du, tri, kvar, kvin.» (= «Ŝi funde enspiris kaj nombris ĝis kvin.».)

Tiu ĉi rakonto temas pri virtuala realo. Ne estas plia mencio pri esperanto nek io ajn klarigas la esperantan citon. Mi ne scias ĉu tiu ĉi rakonto estas parto de iu serio, kie eble estus plia da kunteksto.

Ĉu iu kolektadas tiajn ĉi menciojn kaj uzojn? ...

I was recently very surprised to find an Esperanto sentence («Unu, du, tri, kvar, kvin.») in an English-language science fiction story, The Edge of Nowhere by James Patrick Kelly, published in the current (June 2005) issue of the well-known USA monthly story-magazine Asimov's Science Fiction.

This phrase appears on page 27, not as speech but as thought: «She took a deep breath and counted to five. Unu, du, tri, kvar, kvin.».

This story is about virtual reality. There is no other mention of Esperanto nor any kind of explanation about the Esperanto sentence. I don't know whether this story is part of a series, which perhaps provides more context.

Does anybody collect such mentions and uses? ...
