This is a JavaScript implementation of a simple program that
I wrote in Visual Basic a long time ago for my own use. It's
rather ugly inside because most of the files are created by
a makefile that I wrote, and I didn't worry too much about
pretty formatting. Also, I wanted it to run in just about any
browser that supports JavaScript, so I tried not to do anything
too fancy... and that ruled out some Webby tools that could
have made the code more elegant. (It's amazing how differently
different browsers (and even different versions of the same
browser) handle (or don't) even simple CSS and JavaScript
features. Hopefully it will work on your machine too. If not,
it shouldn't be too hard to fix.) This code has been tested
with Opera 3.62 and 5.10, Internet Explorer 5.0 and Netscape
Navigator 4.75; though it doesn't look quite as I'd like in all
of them, at least it does work!
The vocabulary is based upon coglen.htm and gldt.htm from the Glosa Internet Dictionary. If you find any errors in the words or in my HTML and JavaScript formatting, please inform me at the address given below. Things may change, but for now, here's how the pages work: The field at the upper left contains a word. The three fields at the right contain suggested translations for that word, only one of which is correct. Your task is to click on the correct translation. The remaining field is used to keep track of your score, which can be zeroed via the re-sti button. And the verte button reverses the direction of the translation. That's all there is to it. Enjoy! Dies ist eine JavaScipt-Implementierung eines einfachen
Programmes, das ich in Visual Basic vor langer Zeit für
meinen eigenen Gebrauch geschrieben hatte. Der Programmtext
sieht ziemlich hässlich aus, weil die meisten Files von
einem Makefile von mir erzeugt wurden und ich mich nicht
so sehr um eine hübsche Formatierung kümmern
wollte. Außerdem wollte ich, dass es mit jedem Browser
läuft, der JavaScript unterstützt, deshalb
versuchte ich nichts zu Ausgefallenes ... und das schloss
einige sehr spezielle "Webby" Tools aus, die das Programm
eleganter gemacht hätten. (Es ist schon erstaunlich,
wie verschiedenartig verschieden die Browser - und sogar
die verschiedenen Versionen desselben Browsers - sogar
einfachste CSS- und JavaScript-Features handhaben (oder eben
nicht)). Hoffentlich läuft es auf Ihrem Rechner auch.
Falls nicht, sollte es nicht so schwer sein zu beheben.) Das
Programm wurde getestet mit Opera 3.62 und 5.10, Internet
Explorer 5.0 und Netscape Navigator 4.75. Obwohl es nicht

Vielleicht hat sich inzwischen wieder einiges geändert, aber im Großen und Ganzen funktionieren die Seiten so: Das Feld oben links enthält ein Wort. Die drei Felder rechts enthalten Übersetzungsvorschläge für das Wort, von denen nur eines korrekt ist. Ihre Aufgabe ist nun, auf die richtige Übersetzung zu klicken. Das Feld, das übrig bleibt, wird gebraucht, um Ihren Punktestand zu verfolgen, der mit dem re-sti-Button zurückgesetzt werden kann. Der verte-Button dreht die Übersetzungsrichtung um. Das ist alles, was es zu erklären gibt. Viel Spaß!
